KKE members have earned an excellent reputation in competition tournaments. Members (both adults and children) compete regularly and have won hundreds of trophies – many national and international – over the years. Competition isn’t for everyone, so KKE hosts regular courses and training session with Sensei Kawasoe as well as guest instructors. KKE heavily subsidises these courses to its members.
KKE is dedicated to traditional Shotokan Karate, we are affiliated to the Japan Karate Association World Federation (JKA WF). Shotokan is the most widespread and popular Japanese style of the art. Shotokan is regarded as a dynamic martial art, which uses quick body-shifting to evade opponents and launch attacks. Initially strength and power are demonstrated instead of slower, more flowing motions. This develops to a much more fluid style that incorporates grappling, throwing and some standing joint locking techniques, Shotokan is an effective self-defence system.
A qualified committee of senior, internationally qualified instructors. Some have studied karate for over 40 years and still training regularly keeping their teaching current and up to date. KKE instructors are CRB checked and insured. All are experienced in teaching children as well as adults. KKE has a child safety policy, members’ insurance and issues training licences.
You’re most welcome to come along anytime to our clubs and see a training session for yourself and talk to our instructors. Or just come along and join in. You just need yourself and loose-fitting clothes. (You only need a karate training suit later, if you start training regularly.)
Contact any instructor at your nearest location. For details, see our club locator.
Existing Shotokan clubs are also welcome to join, please contact us for more information.
